Investigative documentaries are records of major events and real social problems that have occurred but have not yet been disclosed in detail.Investigative documentaries are like a mirror,it excavate the news behind the news with a maverick posture,allowing the audience to follow the development of the event and uncover the truth with the creators.In the process of pulling away the cocoon and setting aside the fog,the curiosity of the audience has also been greatly satisfied.This paper takes the author’s graduation work "Mining area memory" as a case study,and the documentary "Mining area memory" focuses on the Shizuishan mining area located in the depths of Helan Mountain(mainly focusing on Baijigou Mine,Dafeng Mine,Rujigou Mine and Shitanjing).Through the real record,it shows the development and change of mining area for 60 years,the persistence and effort of several generations of people in mining area facing life and work;reflects the complexity and heavy social reality behind the development of coal mine;reveals the crisis and opportunity faced in different periods of transformation and development of mining area;deeply discusses the importance of investigation documentary in presenting social mirror image.This paper is divided into four parts.The first part expounds the creation background of the works,and deeply analyzes the difficulties and rebirth faced by the different transformation and development periods of the mining area.The second part defines the related concepts.The third part,combined with the author’s original work "Memory of Mining Area ",expounds how to present the social mirror image of the investigation documentary from three aspects:theme content mining,documentary scene presentation and creative practice record.The fourth part summarizes the difficulties and shortcomings in the process of creation.
