In recent years, there are more researchers studying the translation of Children’s Literature.Nowadays, with “going out” of Chinese culture,it’s necessary and urgent to do researches on the translation of Children’s Literature from Chinese to English. The adoption of new translation theories to study the translation of Chinese Children’s Literature can further promote the continuous development of the translation of Chinese Children’s Literature from Chinese to English, and also expand the scope and depth of the research,so as to contribute to the “going out” of Chinese culture.Eco-translatology theory, which was adopted by Professor Hu Gengshen of Tsinghua University in 2001,is a new translation theory based on an approach to translation as adaptation and selection. However, there are few researches on this theory. Therefore, the space for research is very broad.“Eco-Translatology” is an ecological paradigm and research field that “translation is the adaptation and selection,” which makes use of “ecological rationality” and makes an overall study of translation from an ecological perspective. This theory specifically illustrates the interpretive functions of the theory of translation adaptation and selection to translated texts. The first point is the process of translation-the alternating cycle of translator adaptation and translator selection; The second point is the principle of translation-Multidimensional selective adaptation and adaptive selection; The third point is the approach of translation-three dimensions including linguistic dimension, communicative dimension, and culture dimension. The fourth point is evaluation criteria such as degree of multidimensional transformation, readers’ feedback, and the qualities of translators.Ren Rongrong’s Mr.Dippy and Mr.Cippy is a Children’s Literature work with the same name as a Chinese cartoon published by Zhejiang Children’s Publishing in 2012.It has been listed as a good book recommended by the State Press and Publication Department and the State Education Department for the youth of the country. It has also been recommended by the New Reading Agency as one of the 30 books that primary school students must read nationwide, and it ranks third.Ren Rongrong’s Mr.Dippy and Mr.Cippy has become a well-deserved “Chinese original classic.” It has influenced five generations of readers and become a classic that will be spread forever.Although there are a lot of studies on Chinese Children’s Literature by scholars around the world, there has never been a study on Mr.Dippy and Mr.Cippy from the perspective of Eco-translatology.Based on the overseas thesis of Chinese Children’s Literature and the theoretical guidance of Eco-translation,this thesis conducts a careful study, analysis and translation of the first three chapters of Mr.Dippy and Mr.Cippy.The thesis first elaborates on the research background, research goals and significance, and the structure of the thesis. It is believed that the rich slang, idioms and cultural-loaded words in the first three chapters of Mr.Dippy and Mr.Cippy reflect the characteristics of Children’s Literature in this research. The thesis reviews the three dimensions of ecological translation,Children’s Literature and Ren Rongrong’s works. The fourth chapter of this thesis analyzes Mr.Dippy and Mr.Cippy from the other two dimensions of translation studies-style and translation process. The fifth chapter of this thesis studies the eco-translation of Mr.Dippy and Mr.Cippy from the four aspects of translator, reader, source language, and target language. Then, based on the translation principles of three-dimensional transformation, the three dimensions of language, culture, and communication are discussed. This dimension is used to study what kind of adaptive transformation the translator has made in order to adapt to the translational eco-environment in the translation process. The last chapter of this thesis summarizes the main results and shortcomings of the research, analyzes and looks forward to the next research work. The research shows that the study on the translation of the Chinese Children’s Literature texts of Mr.Dippy and Mr.Cippy from the perspective of Eco-translatology can not only provide a new theoretical perspective for the study of its translation as well as a systematic guidance for the study on the translation methods and strategies of relevant Children’s Literature texts in the future, but also can help to promote the spread of Chinese Children’s Literature.
