This is a Chinese-English translation report.The translation material is selected from the book Liupan Mountain and Sumeru Mountain Grottoes.The author of the report takes the part introducing Liupan Mountain area as the source text,with a total of around 12,000 words.This part introduces in detail the unique natural landscape of Liupan Mountain area in Guyuan,Ningxia,which also fully embodies its profound historical heritage.The translation of Chinese tourism texts provide a channel for foreign tourists to know more about China’s rich tourism resources,and at the same time plays a significant role in promoting the publicity of Chinese culture.By translating this book,Liupan Mountain area,in the hinterland of Guyuan,Ningxia,would catch more foreigners’eyes and attract them to travel here,which can promote the further development of Ningxia tourism industry,spur the economic growth in Ningxia and contribute to the national economic development.The Translation Variation Theory put forward by Professor Huang Zhonglian is a scientific principle and ideological system which reflects the nature and law of translation variation.This translation practice,under the guidance of translation variation theory,aims to explore the application of this theory in Chinese-English tourism translation.The whole report is divided into five parts.The first part is a description of the translation task.The second part is an overview of the whole translation process,including preparation before translation,during translation and revision after translation.The third part is the literature review,which mainly summarizes the Translation Variation Theory,the research on tourism translation abroad and at home,and the application of translation variation theory.In the fourth part,based on the author’ s translation practice and the characteristics of the original text,she concluded several adaptations,such as supplement,reduction,edition,combination and deletion she adopted in the translation process by case analysis.The last part is a summary of the whole translation process,analyzing the problems existing in the translation process and putting forward suggestions for improvement.Through this translation practice,the author summarized the application of five flexible adaptations in order to provide reference for the translation of similar texts in the future.
