Non-fiction writing originated in the United States in the 1960s and 1970s.It created a new way of writing that connects literature with reality and found a window for the transformation of the American literary circle.Many scholars have devoted themselves to the creation of non-fiction literature,thus affecting the pattern of world literature.After more than half a century of development,non-fiction literature has become an important part of the world literary world.American writer Peter Hessler inherited the tradition of American non-fiction writing and added personal writing forms on this basis,and created a non-fiction work "China Trilogy" with Chinese stories as the material.Taking Hessler’s "China Trilogy" as the research object,this paper explores the unique non-fiction writing methods of Hessler’s "China Trilogy" through the analysis of the creation skills of the works’ sense of reality and the text narrative strategy,and then discusses its enlightenment to the development of current non-fiction literature in China.The thesis is mainly divided into the following four chapters:The first chapter introduces the development of American non-fiction writing,and explains the influence of the literary trend,platform and promoter of American non-fiction writing on Hessler’s non-fiction writing style.Secondly,it makes a brief analysis of the research object "China Trilogy" and the author of Peter Hessler.The second chapter analyzes the ways of constructing the "sense of reality" in the "China Trilogy" from three aspects: the author’s writing attitude,scene construction and character description.Firstly,the author’s attitude of "presence" and "intervention" reflects his respect for truth.Secondly,it analyzes the construction of the real scene of the work from the aspects of natural scene,life scene and scene details.Finally,in the description of objective characters,select objective realistic characters and present the silhouette and three-dimensional effect on the character image,so as to complete the creation of the "sense of reality" in the work.The third chapter mainly analyzes the narrative strategy of "China Trilogy".The combination of time-type sequence and space-type sequence is the feature of narrative structure.The author’s narrative arcs,which are based on reality,stimulate readers’ interest in reading.In terms of narrative language,it permeates the style of the novel,showing the effect of humor and defamiliarization.Enhance the readability and artistic appeal of the work.The fourth chapter discusses the enlightenment of the "China Trilogy" to the current non-fiction literature in China.Firstly,it analyzes the reference significance of the "China Trilogy" to Chinese non-fiction works in terms of balancing literariness and truthfulness,narrative and reporting.Secondly,it points out its limitations in the field of creative style and ideology.Finally,it analyzes the development direction of Chinese non-fiction literature in the new century.The conclusion part is the summary of Hessler’s unique non-fiction writing style and the prospect of the development of Chinese non-fiction literature.
