A Report On The Translation Of Exploration Of Guizhou Ethnic And Folk Tea Culture (Excerpts) From The Perspective Of Adaptation Theory

The translated text is selected from the Exploration of Guizhou Ethnic and Folk Tea Culture,which aims to explore Guizhou ethnic traditional tea culture and promote Chinese traditional tea customs.Adhering to the concept of publicizing Guizhou tea and tea culture,under the guidance of linguistic adaptation theory,this paper studies the culture loaded words,non subject sentences,adverbial clauses and tea couplets from the perspective of cultural context adaptation.Language adaptation theory points out that in the face of two different cultures and language systems,conscious or unconscious adjustments should be made at the linguistic level and the extra linguistic level.From the perspective of linguistic adaptation theory,this paper combines the current Chinese and Western cultural background and language communication environment.This paper is a practical report on Chinese English translation for the purpose of bilingual communication.From the perspective of cultural adaptation,it is a process of constant selection and adaptation to take texts with ethnic characteristics as translation practice objects.Due to the political,historical,philosophical,scientific,customs,religious beliefs,ways of thinking,geography and other factors involved in culture,the translator should choose the appropriate translation method according to the dynamic changes of language components and cultural context.For the communication on the surface of culture,there is a fixed way of expression in another culture,which is directly transformed at the level of symbol.In order to achieve “one-to-one equivalence”,a certain expression in the source language is replaced by a certain expression in the target language.When it is difficult to understand or seek equivalence in the cultural context of the target language,the indirect equivalence between the source language and the target language can be obtained from the perspective of the process of seeking cultural context adaptation.In order to avoid cultural misunderstanding,the translator should pay attention to the target language readers’ understanding while conforming to the cultural context of the original text.This paper is divided into five parts.The first part is a brief introduction of the practice,which introduces the background,objectives and significance of the practice.The second part summarizes the theory of Linguistic Adaptation from the perspective of linguistic selectivity,the three major attributes of language,and the contextual relevance theory of structural adaptation and adaptability of language research,and analyzes the translation practice under the cultural context and cultural context adaptation from the perspective of context.The third part describes the translation process,briefly describes the translation tools and parallel texts,and states the process of translation and proofreading.The fourth part is the case study of the translation of culture loaded words,non-subject sentences,adverbial clause,tea couplets and the whole text.The fifth part is the summary of practice.The choice of translation methods should be analyzed according to the two languages and cultures,and the purpose the translation practice.
