With the deepening of globalization,exchanges between cultures become more and more frequent.Among various media,the movie plays a significant role with its advanced screen technology and intuitive audio-visual effects,and the study of film translation has also been developing.However,in China,the study on film translation mainly focuses on the translation of subtitles and film titles,while the translation of movie reviews is relatively ignored,especially the Chinese movie reviews.15 Movies that Teachers Must to Watch introduces and interprets 15 educational movies,and profoundly expounds on the important role in the development of human society.Country Teachers and My Career as a Teacher was chosen to be translated because the educational examples in these movies can propagate the excellent model of Chinese teachers and it is helpful to promote the concept of education and teaching in China to be recognized by the world.Because of the huge differences in thinking and expression between China and the West,the traditional equivalent translation method may be difficult to reproduce the deep meaning of the original text.However,George Steiner advocates“Understanding is translation”.He elaborated four translation steps: trust,aggression,incorporation,and compensation.Steiner’s hermeneutics not only emphasizes the translator’s understanding of the original text but also pays attention to the reader’s reading experience of the translation,which is of guiding significance to the translation of the film review with emotional content.Based on the theoretical principles of Hermeneutics,this report takes the translation of 15 Movies that Teachers Must Watch as the case study to explore the translation methods and strategies.This report mainly consists of five parts.The first part is task description,which introduces the background and significance of this translation practice.The second part is the translation process,including pre-translation,while-translation,and post-translation.The third part is the brief introduction of Hermeneutics theory.The fourth part is the case study,in which the translation strategies of movie reviews is discussed from lexical,syntactic and textual level.The fifth part is the summary,which describes the deficiency and major findings of the translation practice.This translation practice has shown that Hermeneutics is of great significance to the translation of Chinese educational film reviews.In the process of translation,the author can analyze the original text through four steps of Steiner hermeneutics,restore the meaning and form to the greatest extent,and effectively improve the translation quality,so as to realize the transformation of the original text to the target language.It is expected that this translation practice report can provide suggestions and references for the translation of movie reviews.
