The paintings of ladies in the Tang Dynasty refer to the category of paintings depicting the female images of the upper class in the Tang Dynasty,which is an important part of the figure paintings in the Tang Dynasty.Prior to this,most of them were replaced by "feminine,Qiluo(mostly referred to ladies and beauties),Pinqiang(Palace female officer or emperors’ concubines)",and "beauties,women"were also used.It was not until the mid-Song Dynasty that such paintings were collectively referred to as "gentry women paintings".In "Ci Hai",it explained that"Shi": used to be called officials.Ladies: used to be called noble women,namely gentry women." From initially referring to men and women to specifically referring to women and beauties,the painting of ladies has developed into an independent painting subject and has undergone a long period of evolution.After the course of history entered the Tang Dynasty,it was a period of great development in politics,economy,culture and many other aspects of Chinese feudal society.In terms of painting art,portrait paintings with the subject of beauty paintings have achieved rapid development and reached their peak.They are both perfect models of the feudal period in terms of quantity and quality.The ladies paintings created by Zhang Xuan and Zhou Fang fit exactly the culturally prosperous scene in the Tang Dynasty.Their character modeling has a unique style and a typical and rich aesthetic image of Tang Dynasty.The unique artistic style and the social significance and value contained in thier works provided research value for the development of the later generations of ladies paintings.Based on the theories of existing literature research,this article uses research methods such as iconology and narratology to analyze the image structure and narrativity contained in Zhang Xuan and Zhou Fang’s paintings of ladies.The research of this article mainly starts from the following aspects:Firstly,after the integrated analysis of the current research results,it sorts out the development and changes of the beauty paintings,and analyzes and discusses the generation and creative situation of Zhang Xuan and Zhou Fang’s ladies paintings.Secondly,the paper analyzes the constituent elements in the portraits of ladies by Zhang Xuan and Zhou Fang,starting with character modeling,picture space and the symbolism of colors,it also analyzes the basic constituent elements of the portraits of ladies and demonstrates their origination.Thirdly,expound the narrative in the representative works of Zhang Xuan and Zhou Fang’s ladies paintings,and analyze the narrative content and carrier,narrative mode and narrative space.Fourthly,analyze the transformation of social functions in the paintings of ladies,and explain the social information and cultural connotations contained in the pictures and summarize the social significance and aesthetic value of the paintings of ladies by Zhang Xuan and Zhou Fang. |
