Body View In Zhuang Zi-From The Perspectives Of Maurice Merleau-Ponty,Billeter

Through the long and splendid culture of the Chinese nation,the text of Zhuangzi,with its rich and profound thoughts and thought-provoking language expression,attracted countless scholars and scholars to follow.They either explored Zhuangzi or studied Zhuangzi’s works,which promoted the "Zhuang studies" to flourish and accumulate more and more wealth.In the traditional study of Zhuangzi in China,the study of the text of Zhuangzi mainly focuses on the exploration of "Tao",Zhuangzi’s philosophy of life,aesthetic thought and so on.In the Western French world,since the publication of Merleau-Ponty ’s phenomenology of perception in 1945,the cognition and discussion of "body" has aroused academic interest.In the 21st century,China’s commercial press has published phenomenology of perception translated by translator Jiang zhihui,and Zhong Hua Book Company has published Zhuangzi’s four lectures compiled from Billeter ’s lecture notes.The topic of "body" has become a popular topic in anthropology,aesthetics,philosophy and other disciplines,and is involved in the study of Zhuangzi.Although there is no specific statement of the concept of "body" in the text of Zhuangzi,the body,as the most intimate and personal part of an individual,is bound to be inseparable from individual thought and philosophy of life.On the basis of the life philosophy of "preserving life",the text of Zhuangzi deals with the "body" in terms of the cultivation of the body,the maintenance of the lifetime,stripping away of the reputation and profit,the coordination and tension between the internal and external body,and so on.At the same time,Zhuangzi’s attention to the individual and reflection on the society can also be seen from his description of "body" and his revealed attitude.To open Zhuangzi through the "body view" is a way to try to interpret the classics.Therefore,based on the text of Zhuangzi,with the help of the relevant theories of body phenomenology,this paper attempts to introduce the views of Merleau-Ponty and Billeter on "body" and explore the "body view" in the text of Zhuangzi through the text of Zhuangzi and related fables,This paper demonstrates Zhuangzi’s thinking orientation of seeking the maximum energy of "body" by emptied "body".This paper is divided into four parts.The first part is an overview of "body".After a brief introduction to the study of "body" in the West,it focuses on a comprehensive discussion of the research status of "body view" in Zhuangzi in the academic circle of China,trying to clarify the boundary of the concept of "body",and to separate out the topics for the author to study and discuss.The second part mainly introduces the foreign scholars Merleau-Ponty and Billeter’s theory of "body" as the theoretical basis of the text interpretation of Zhuangzi.Among them,Merleau-Ponty’s theory mainly focuses on the aspects of breaking through the dualism of body and mind and giving the basic and primary philosophical status to body perception.In Billeter ’s view,it mainly focuses on the aspects of the body getting rid of the command of consciousness in practical activities and spontaneously realizing the practical goals.After the preparation work is completed,the third part enters the focus of this article.The third part mainly focuses on the text of "Zhuangzi",choosing fables such as Kunpeng’s self-transformation,Paoding’s killing the cow and Lv Liang’s husband’s dancing in the water.the man from Lv Liang swimming in the water.Through careful reading of the text,this paper demonstrates that Kunpeng’s self-transformation embodies "physique"demonstrates "body",which shows Zhuangzi’s ultimate pursuit of body energy.Paoding’s countless successful experiences in killing the cow,and the key was his ability to implement "self-denial" with an "empty cup attitude".the man from Lv Liang is at ease in the turbulent waves because of the "body" enough empty,in order to adapt to the waves at any time.Finally,the conclusion section,throughout the western theory and the zhuangzi text,despite the theory can not absolutely completely explain the text,such as Billeter’s body views cannot accommodate over the implication of the concept,such as "nature"or "fate" in Zhuangzi.At the same time,the zhuangzi text,such as the celestial being from the Miaoguye mountains can’t be hurt by everything,include floods and fires.There is a tendency to abstract the meaning of "body",which is difficult to implement.However,the collision between the text and the theory can still help us to further understand the "body",so as to bring beneficial enlightenment for us to protect our body and develop our potential in the high-speed modern living situation.
