The Reception Of Wang Anyi And Her Root-seeking Works In The United Kingdom

With the promotion of Chinese culture overseas,the study of Chinese literature in foreign translation,especially English translation,has become a continuing hotspot.By studying the reception of Wang Anyi’s specific literary themes in the UK,this study,to a certain extent,can enrich the study of Chinese literature abroad.This paper adopts a combination of quantitative and qualitative research methods,using literature review to understand Wang Anyi’s perspectives on the attention she has received,exploring the acceptance of her literary works and the reasons through data collation and induction.This paper is based on multiple data sources,including foreign language journal articles and dissertations and OCLC;analysis of reader comments and secondary text information.The aim is to form a relatively comprehensive analysis of the current state of acceptance and,consequently,to analyze the causes.The specific questions are as follows: 1.What is the reception background of Wang Anyi and her works,especially the root-seeking works? 2.What is the current reception of her root-seeking literature? 3.What are the reasons that influence her works’ current reception? This article collects specific data on the library collection of her soot-seeking works.According to the resulting bibliography,information from secondary texts was analyzed to study the reception by expert readers,and reviews were compiled on book review websites to study the reception by general readers.The study found that Wang Anyi’s root-seeking works have certain market in the UK,and literature on this subject can be used as an option for English translations of Chinese literature.Domestically,many writers participated in the root-seeking literary trend and most of them are now the mainstay of the Chinese writer community.From abroad,Although the UK and our country focus on different aspects of root-seeking,there is a certain receptivity to root-seeking literature.
