A Study On The Chinese Construction Of “X Hai Lai Bu Ji(Ne)”

“X hai lai bu ji(ne)” is a common construction in modern Chinese language.This paper studies the syntactic and semantic features,subjectivity,pragmatic features and functions,and generative motivation of this construction.The paper first describes the constitute,syntactic and semantic features of the construction,investigates the attribute characteristics of constant term and variable term.From the perspective of syllables,disyllabic and polysyllabic X are dominant,X is mainly a predicate component,its semantics is characterized by [+ autonomy],[+controllability] and [+ description of human nature],and semantic color tends to be positive.The main syntactic function of “X hai lai bu ji(ne)” is to be a predicate,in addition,it can be used as a clause of a complex sentence or an independent sentence.The construction meaning of the construction be summed up as speaker’s subjective affirmation of X.It can be divided into three situation,the speaker’s comments on the past events,usual events or future events X.The paper also focuses on the subjectivity of “X hai lai bu ji(ne)”.The subjectivity of construction is quantified and analyzed from three aspects,speaker’s emotion,cognition and perspective.In addition,the construction also shows some subjective quantity characteristics,the large subjective quantity of construction belongs to little exaggeration,the rear component activates the quantity of X to the maximum extent,so that the whole construction has a large subjective quantity feature.The paper also investigates the construction “X hai lai bu ji(ne)” from the perspective of pragmatic function and discourse.“X hai lai bu ji(ne)” has its own appropriate context,it usually appears in the inter sentence context with logical connection and co-occurrence of negative items,and in the language of dialogue and narrative.In addition,the construction also has the pragmatic features of conveying information,highlighting focus and expressing modality.From the discourse of the test,the construction has the functions of connect,sum up evaluation and used as title.From the perspective of interpersonal function,the construction X hai lai bu ji(ne)”has the functions of refuting,comforting and conveying the implied meaning.The formation of the construction “X hai lai bu ji(ne)” has motivation.The construction is influenced by the internal succession of “lian” sentence “lian X dou(hai)lai bu ji” and the external succession of “X dou lai bu ji”.Omission and solidification,reanalysis and conceptual metaphor are the main mechanisms of its formation.The causes of its generation are the economic principle of language,the psychology of cognitive prominence,the demand of new transmission of language and the accumulation of frequency of use.In addition,we choose “X dou lai bu ji” and “X hai mei lai de ji” that two similar structures compared with the object studied in this paper.We find that “X dou lai bu ji” can be regarded as the parallel construction of “X hai lai bu ji(ne)”,but its internal structure is not homogenous,and the degree of construction is low.Although “mei lai de ji” and “lai bu ji” have the same semantics,but there are differences in application tense and emotional color.
