| Conceptual metaphor is an important theory of cognitive metaphor.Its nature is recognized as a kind of rhetoric within the scope of traditional metaphor research,which is a deliberate deviation of the literal meaning,with optional discourse modifiers.Cognitive metaphor is based on previous metaphor studies,re-examines metaphor,broadens the scope of its research,and regards metaphor as a way of thinking about problems.In their point of view,most people’s thinking is constructed by metaphors,but thinking is abstract.Metaphorical abstract thinking needs to be specifically identified and recognized,and language is the medium,which is the concrete image of thinking.It is concrete,so the study of language is a powerful evidence for prying thinking.Cognitive metaphor theory believes that the mechanism of metaphor is the projection of the source domain to the target domain.In this process,the establishment of similarity is fundamental.The similarity relationship can be divided into physical similarity and psychological similarity.Things can enter the two ends of metaphor by virtue of these two similarities.Produce rich and complex conceptual metaphors,making metaphors abound in our lives.Based on the theory of cognitive metaphor,this article takes the news reports of the Hubei Daily during the lockdown of Wuhan in 2020(January 23,2020-April 8,2020)as the object of investigation,and develops the conceptual m-etaphors in the report of COVID-19.Conducted research to explore the generat-ion mechanism of metaphors in COVID-19 news reports,analyze the types,character-istics,functions and values of metaphors,and aim to reveal the linguistic featu-res and verbal communication meanings of the extensive use of metaphors in COVID-19 news reports.The third chapter is the analysis of the types and characteristics of metaph-ors in the COVID-19 news reports,which is divided into two subsections.Based on the classification standard of Lakoff and Johnson,this chapter sorts out the types of conceptual metaphors in the COVID-19 news reports,and analyzes the key conceptual metaphors in each metaphor type.Summarized the notable characteristics of conceptual metaphors in news reports of the COVID-19.The fourth chapter is the interpretation of metaphorical functions in news reports of the COVID-19,which is divided into three subsections.This chapter starts from the metaphorical discourse of the COVID-19 news reports,and analyzes the function and value of the conceptual metaphor in the COVID-19 news report from the three perspectives of language,cognition and society.The last chapter summarizes the full text view.As a linguistic phenomenon,conceptual metaphors are universally present in the text of the COVID-19 news reports.They can recognize the abstract,strange,and obscure epidemic prevention and control situation through specific familiar,common and easy-to-understand things,thereby establishing The connection between different conceptual systems is to help people cross-domain cognition,so as to use words and deeds to achieve the purpose of comforting public sentiments,persuading citizens to cooperate,conveying government intentions,and helping epidemic prevention and control,and smoothly played the role of news media. |
