| Traditional classroom teaching is a means of teaching that is widely used in Chinese school.At the beginning of 21th century,the new Curriculum Reform pointed out that education should be learner-oriented,which means that students’all-round development should be emphasized.However,since the large amount of students,of whom the characters,cognitive styles,levels and learning needs are various,if students are educated through the same contents,methods,progress and standards,their development will be definitely hindered.So,it’s essential to grade students appropriately for their better development.As the complexity in the operation of Stratified English Teaching,this thesis mainly focuses on investigating the present situation of this kind of teaching,finding the problems existed in it and trying to give some practical suggestions.In this thesis,the current situation,potential problems and relevant suggestions for the application of Stratified English Teaching are studied and discussed.The subjects of the questionnaire are the Grade One students and relevant English teachers in a high school in Shanxi.By analyzing the data,several problems are found.First,some teachers’command of Stratified English Teaching is not enough.Second,there is a lack of the comprehensiveness and dynamics in the grading of students.Third,the preparation and practical teaching fail to meet the different needs of students in different levels to some extent.And the assignment and evaluation standards are not diverse enough to meet students in different levels objectively.Then some suggestions are put forward.For one thing,it’s necessary to enrich teachers’professional training on Stratified English Teaching.For another,the school and teachers should grade students from comprehensive aspects.In addition,prepare the students and teaching appropriately,which means to select various teaching contents and methods for students in different levels.Besides,the assignment and evaluation is also significant.The quality and quantity of the assignment and evaluation should take students’levels into consideration carefully.By these approaches,the English teaching effects in this school maybe improved to some extent.The stratified English teaching has a great effect on improving students’class participation,increasing their learning interest and promoting learning challenges.Demanding more on teachers and strengthening the learning and application of teaching theories,the stratified teaching plays a significant role in promoting English teaching quality and effects. |
