English is one of the compulsory subjects in college entrance examination.The total score of college entrance examination is 150 points and 50 points are reading questions which accounting for a large proportion.Indeed,reading skills are the most difficult to master and the most easily ignored in English teaching.Due to the inconsistency of students’ English reading level,not every student can effectively master all the reading materials.Stratified teaching method focuses on the zone of proximal development of students in different levels,trying to arrange the corresponding learning objectives based on different students’ English reading level,which is more meet the learning needs of students.The purpose of this study is to explore the influence of stratified teaching method on students’ reading attitude,whether it can improve students’ English reading scores,and which level of students’ reading scores is improved obviously.This study was conducted in two parallel classes of sophomore in a public high school from September 2020 to November 2020,and lasted for three months.Class 5 is the experimental class,which adopts the stratified teaching method in English reading class.Class 6 is the control class.This research mainly uses questionnaire,interview and test methods to collect the experimental data,and analyzes the experimental data through SPSS 19.0 software to explore the practical role of stratified teaching method in senior high school English reading teaching.The research findings suggested the attitude of students to English reading under the stratified teaching method has been changed.Stratified teaching method improved the English reading scores of all levels’ senior high students.Level C students’ reading performance was the most significant.Next one is level A students,then the level B students.This study improved the English reading performance of senior high school students,change their reading attitude towards a positive direction and gradually improved their English reading ability.Through the analysis of the experimental results,the research shows that the stratified teaching method can be used in the teaching of senior high school English reading and provides some useful information to future research on English reading teaching and learning.
