Peng Youxian And Reforms Of Jing Dezhen’s Ceramic Industry In The Republic Of China

In the first half of the 20 th century,Jingdezhen and even China’s porcelain industry were faced with two major issues: one was how to break out of the tight siege by a road of reform in the face of the decline of traditional porcelain industry;Second,in the face of the impact of western ideology and culture,what kind of posture and steps should be taken to Start a new chapter/ turn a new page of Chinese modern ceramic design.Peng Youxian(1906-1949)was a forerunner engaged in the improvement of ceramic design during the Republic of China.He seized the favorable opportunity of the reform of the porcelain industry,integrated the traditional Chinese craft thought with the western design thought,and devoted himself to the design and promotion of the new improved porcelain.Besides,he designed porcelain as gifts and porcelain used by the government which could represent the country.This paper explains the reasons and purposes for the research,research status and research methods,research significance and innovation in the introduction.The second chapter summarizes the development and industrial exploration of Jingdezhen porcelain industry in the Republic of China,and expounds the background and conditions of porcelain industry reform one by one.The third chapter generalizes and analyzes Peng Youxian’s important personal growth experience and ideological dynamics.The fourth chapter focuses on the analysis of Peng Youxian’s works of ceramic art design.Through his works,we can see the new features of ceramic design under the context of the reform and the collision between Chinese traditional art and western art design,which is an important breakthrough in the reform of porcelain industry.In chapter five based on the material historical materials and image documents,elaborates the important role and value of Peng Youxian in the porcelain industry reform deeply and objectively,and clarifies the historical features of the porcelain industry reform through the restoration of some historical events.The sixth chapter puts forward personal thinking about the development of contemporary Jingdezhen porcelain industry.The study of Peng Youxian and Jingdezhen in the Republic of China is actually the outstanding contributors in the reform of the Republic of China.Peng Youxian is a historical figure who should not be ignored in the history of modern Chinese ceramic design.However,in the current historical research,his name rarely appears,or only passes along with a falsely written historical area.His life was only 43 years,but he devoted half his life to the innovation of the porcelain industry.Looking back at history,Peng Youxian’s efforts to improve the modernization of the ceramic and porcelain industries,and his personal understanding of art,design and patterns,all need to be studied in the background of The Times.Therefore,this paper has a certain theoretical research depth and historical reference value.
