| Documentary is an important carrier to spread national image.As an important part of the documentary "self-shaping" national image,Chinese stories constitute a space for the spread of empathy.Space is a geographical concept,which can be measured through perception,observation and so on.Documentary,as a media carrier,transmits the national image in the constructed space,including perception,symbol,representation and other elements.These elements also exist in the image space of the documentary,presenting the national image for external communication.The analysis of the national image presented by the documentary from the perspective of space is of great practical significance to understand the internal spatial logic and to present a comprehensive and true image of China.Lefebvre,Soja and others divided space into three levels,which are the perceptible tangible world,the abstract image world,and the intersection of material and experience,which is of reference significance to the production of image space.This study proposes the spatial hierarchy division of external communication documentaries,namely geographical space,symbol space and heterogeneous space.This study selects intercontinental center jointly organized the international high-quality documentary program-"Magic China" and "Huacai China".Through the documentary images,the geographical space,symbolic space and difference in China’s urban and rural areas and natural environment are selected.By documenting space in China’s urban and rural areas and natural environments,the study analyzes the physical,symbolic and social nature of China’s image and three-dimensional communication.This study focuses on documentary samples,examines the spatial production logic:from the perspective of perceivable geographic space and divided by location,it elaborates on Chinese local space,overseas space and mixed space.And then expounds national image in the expression and features of the markers in the documentary.From the perspective of the representational symbolic space,through the analysis of the sample content,the spatial characteristics and main topics constructed in the Chinese image documentary are sorted out and refined into interpretive frameworks:everyday space,flowing space,memory space,and super space.Finally,exploring the social reality and audience experience of documentary,it shows the dismantling and reshaping of cultural boundaries under the new industrialization and the audience’s presentation of the "imaginative community" of China’s image.Through the above analysis of space production,this article examines the national image in space production and documentaries.The main conclusion of this article is that space production and national image are closely linked,and space changes with the needs of national image.The output of national image also has a different focus in spatial changes.The development of social reality and the starting point of the external dissemination of Chinese image documentaries have a certain degree of synchronization.Chinese external documentaries have become media samples for investigating and contemplating China’s spatial landscape and characteristics of China’s image,highlighting or obscuring certain levels of national social reality,and proposed Space propagation obstacles and optimized paths. |
