The mind-nature theory is one of the important theoretical issues in ancient Chinese philosophy.The core of Chinese mind-nature theory is the relationship between human being’s subject existence and noumenon existence,which extends the relationship between human and nature.The mind-nature theory of Zen Buddhism in Tang Dynasty inherited and developed the mind-nature thought of Indian Buddhism,the mind-nature thought of Confucianism,Taoism and Xuan,and the discussion of mind-nature in the early period of Buddhism in China.It unifies the mind-nature of subject and the mind-nature of noumenon,and marks the maturity of the mind-nature theory of Buddhism.It has three ideological connotations:inhuman things have hearts,unity of body and function,and natural mind-nature.The mind-nature theory of Zen in Tang Dynasty believes that man and nature are equal,dialogue and harmony.Human and nature have the same origin of life.People can realize the wisdom of life in the process of getting close to nature.From today’s point of view,the understanding of the relationship between man and nature is ecological and contains very rich ecological wisdom,which is in common with the deep ecological thought.When this wisdom enters the aesthetic field of literature and art and affects people’s aesthetic activities,it becomes a kind of aesthetic way with great ecological wisdom.Zen’s mind-nature theory has an important impact on the development of aesthetic activities in the Tang Dynasty.Aesthetic activities in the Tang Dynasty pay attention to the existence of people,emphasizing the blending state between aesthetic subjects and objects and the harmonious relationship between man and nature.The ecological aesthetic wisdom is manifested in three aspects,namely,the uniform aesthetic realm,the aesthetic way of engagement and the ethereal aesthetic perspective.There are both connections and differences between Zen mind aesthetics and ecological aesthetics.From the perspective of integration,both of them emphasize the unity of aesthetics and morality,which is with the world,theory and practice,but there are also non-ecological factors of indulgence and mysticism in Zen mind aesthetics.Western ecological thoughts have also paid attention to Zen thought.The realm of Zen’s mind-nature aesthetics and the aesthetic field of aesthetics of engagement have similarities in the blending of aesthetic subject and object.Respecting Zen’s mind-nature aesthetics,we can better understand that Carlson’s scientific cognitive position ignores aesthetic intuition.To sum up,the mind-nature theory of Zen in Tang Dynasty,which unifies the ontological existence of human beings and the existence of subject,self and Self,is a thought of fecundity of life beyond art and religion.Zen’s mind-nature aesthetics is also a kind of the aesthetics of fecundity of life that emphasizes the harmony of aesthetic subject and object and the creation of aesthetic realm,and has rich ecological aesthetic wisdom. |
