Diane Ackerman is an American scholar and writer.Her view of nature is unique in contemporary American natural thought.In the United States,which has a tradition of Transcendentalist aesthetics and natural literature,there are many representative natural aesthetics scholars and natural literature writers in the new era.Ackerman may not be the most famous of them,but its theoretical value should not be buried,This paper takes Ackerman’s view of nature as the main research content,from the perspective of natural aesthetics,excavates and explains the causes,connotation,characteristics and value of natural thought embodied in Diane Ackerman’s main works and her environmental protection practice,as well as the Enlightenment of her thought on ecological protection,trying to present an objective and complete Ackerman.The paper is divided into five parts:the first part is the introduction,which mainly introduces the research background,research status and research significance.The second part is the formation of Ackerman’s view of nature.It analyzes the reasons and process of the formation of Ackerman’s thought from the influence of American Transcendentalism aesthetics,environmental aesthetics,American natural literature,modern science,Ackerman’s character and life experience.The third part is the connotation of Ackerman’s view of nature.It discusses Ackerman’s view of nature cognition,natural values,natural rights and natural protection,and summarizes the connotation of her view of nature.In the view of cognition,Ackerman believes that man and nature are never far away.Human beings are the most precious animals in the world.Ackerman also believes that all senses should be mobilized to recognize nature,emphasizing that love is the most important mission of life.In the view of values,Ackerman affirms the independence of nature and believes that nature has its own independent value in addition to providing material and spiritual services for human beings.In addition,Ackerman also discusses the environmental ethical value of nature.In the view of rights,Ackerman believes that all things in nature have equal rights.We should protect the diversity of species,respect the laws of nature,and not artificially destroy the ecological order and harm other lives.In the view of protection,Ackerman believes that human beings have the obligation to protect nature.To protect nature,we should establish the concept of ecological integrity and sustainability,and use modern science and technology to protect nature.The fourth part mainly summarizes the characteristics and value of Ackerman’s view of nature.Ackerman’s view of nature advocates rationality,respects science,is objective and peaceful,and has no extreme and radical color.Her theory also has strong practicality.Ackerman’s view of nature has both theoretical significance and practical value.In theory,Ackerman redefined the relationship between human and nature,emphasizing that both human and nature have independent values and are equal.At present,human and nature are in a contradictory state of separation and interdependence.Ackerman also developed Transcendentalism aesthetics theoretically and integrated the spirit and viewpoint of modern science into aesthetics.In practice,Ackerman popularized the concept of ecological protection,and carried out a lot of ecological research and ecological practice,which played an exemplary role for people to protect nature.Ackerman also advocated the sustainable plan for production and life,and established the concept of sustainability.The sixth part is the conclusion.This paper summarizes and evaluates Ackerman’s view of nature,and analyzes the Enlightenment of her thoughts on today’s ecological construction and protection.Although Ackerman’s thought has not attracted extensive attention at present,her view of nature has unique value and guiding significance both in theory and practice,which is worthy of in-depth study. |
