Dai Zhen was one of the leaders of the Qianjia School in the Qing Dynasty,and played a pivotal role in the academic history of the Qing Dynasty.His achievements in philology and textual studies as well as his interpretation of the theory of independence have attracted the attention of academic circles and been deeply and comprehensively explored in the past hundreds of years.However,due to some reasons,Dai Zhen’s study of the Book of Songs has been rarely known,and its related research is not complete.This thesis,based on relevant literature,tries to explore Dai Zhen’s study of classics and even his academic research through the study of the Book of songs,so as to define the value of his research results of the Book of songs more scientifically.This thesis consists of an introduction and three chapters.The introduction includes the significance of the topic,research methods and innovations,a research review,as well as an overview of Dai Zhen’s life and major works of the Book of Songs,which is a brief introduction to the topic and background.The first chapter discusses the unique methods Dai Zhen adopted in his treatment of the Book of Songs,such as the scholium methods of referring widely,the internal proof methods of "Interpreting the Book of Songs by itself’,the comprehensive research methods and the literary methods.These methods reflect Dai Zhen’s superb knowledge and independent thinking,and reflect his academic course as a master of textual studiesThe second chapter is the related investigation of Dai Zhen’s attitude,evolution of thought and thoughts of the Book of Songs.The first section is intended to explain that Dai Zhen hold the attitude of impersonality,and speak objectively about both Han and Song studies,neither drifting with the current,nor deliberately depreciating,but merely judging according to the meaning of the Book of Songs.The second section focuses on the evolution of his thoughts with the accumulation of knowledge and the enrichment of experience in the course of governance of th e Book of Songs.The third section discusses the related theoretical issues in his study of the Book of Songs from three aspects:tenets,concepts and philosophy thoughtsThe third chapter mainly analyzes the status of Dai Zhen’s study of the Book of Songs,and forms a longitudinal logical clue from its origin and influence in the academic history of the Book of Songs,aiming to highlight the significance of Dai Zhen’s study of the Book of Songs as a connection between the past and the future,and to see that it is an indispensable link in the chain of the history of the Book of Songs in the Qing Dynasty.Its influence includes two aspects,value and deficiency,in order to form a more objective and comprehensive understanding of Dai Zhen’s study of the Book of Songs.
