| The COVID-19 has affected offline classroom teaching,which cannot be carried out normally.In the light of this situation,the Ministry of Education requires universities and colleges to implement online teaching for the progress and quality of teaching.However,in the actual process of online teaching,the communication between teachers-students as well as students-students can only take place through the network,making teachers unable to fully understand students’ online learning situation,such as learning enthusiasm,autonomy and independence.Although relevant studies on these problems have been done,far too little attention has been paid to satisfactory solutions up to now.What is more,with the teaching environment shifted from offline to online,the offline teaching methods have been unable to thoroughly meet students’ online learning.Researchers assert that needs analysis is the first step in teaching design and implementation.Careful and comprehensive needs analysis can help teachers find the problems existed in foreign language teaching.Therefore,the design and implementation of a good online teaching model are ought to be based on students’ needs.In view of this,this research utilizes questionnaire and interview as data collection methods,selects 247 non-English majors of a junior college in central part of China as the research objects and then analyzes their online learning needs,so as to provide new insights into the design and implementation of online foreign language teaching.This research aims to solve the following questions :(1)What is the general online English learning situation of students during the COVID-19?(2)What are the specific online English learning needs of students during the COVID-19?(3)What is the enlightenment for the English online teaching based on the specific English learning needs of students?The results show that:(1)The overall situation of students’ online English learning keep well.Most of students can adapt to the online English learning;(2)Students have strong learning needs in terms of individual desire,learning process and learning environment,especially in individual ability improvement;(3)According to students’ specific online English learning needs,this study puts forward corresponding online teaching suggestions to relevant education departments,schools and teachers. |
