Li Maimai was a relatively active scholar in the 1930s.He actively participated in the controversy of Chinese social history,and the controversy of the construction of Chinese culture.During this period,under the guidance of historical materialism,he put forward valuable insights on the staging of ancient history and cultural issues.On the issue of the staging of ancient history,Li Maimai did not rigidly incorporate the development of Chinese society into the five social forms proposed by Marx,but denied the existence of a slave society.He believed that the Shang dynasty was a transition from a clan society to a feudal society,and the Zhou dynasty was a typical feudal society.Li Maimai not only jumped out of this formula and denied the existence of slave society,but also believed that feudal society should be ranked in front of slave society.Ancient slavery was the result of the development of ancient feudalism.In addition,Li Maimai also put forward his own ideas when judging the nature of society from the Qin to the Qing dynasty.He believed that the development of Chinese society was an autocratic monarchy on the eve of the bourgeois revolution,and emphasized that commercial capital was formed in the form of an autocratic monarchy.The importance of the process.Li Maimai also made great achievements in the study of pre-Qin philosophical trends.He proposed that the origin of pre-Qin philosophy was the class struggle in the Spring and Autumn Period.In the great debate on China-based cultural issues,Li Maimai criticized the China-based Cultural Construction Manifesto and believed that the Chinese characteristics mentioned in the "Manifesto" were negative and negative on the political,social,and ideological levels of China.If we continue to preserve this kind of Chinese culture,there will be a suspicion of "Chinese learning and Western learning".Even if we want to preserve and promote the valuable cultural relics in Chinese culture,we must first complete the "Europeanization and modernization task." In the process of cultural construction,Li Maimai advocates criticizing traditional culture and supporting capitalism.He believes that "introduction" should be the focus of Western culture,and cultural "creation" should not be talked about too much.Li Maimai believes that there is a big gap between the advanced culture between China and the West,and Western culture should be introduced and introduced in large quantities.He believes that if a scholar does not work hard to introduce Western culture,but creates a "new culture",then he must have committed an "exaggeration." From this we can see that he is only satisfied with copying Western culture and cannot create on its basis.Li Maimai also has unique insights in discussing the national history theory of various countries.Through a comparative study of the Dutch Revolutionary Movement,the German National Unity Revolution Movement,and the Italian National Unity Revolution Movement,he came to the following conclusions:First,the unity of the country is incompatible with the division of the country.Therefore,if a nation has not completely overcome its separatism within it,it absolutely cannot be called a nation-state.Second,if the interior of a nation is in a state of disintegration,the intrusion of external forces is only an inevitable result.Li Maimai believes that many people lack a correct understanding and understanding of the Chinese national liberation movement.He believes that national movement and national revolution are not the other,but a unified politics,social system,and cultural movement adapted to the development of the national economy.Although Li Maimai has some radical views on the issue of ancient history and the construction of Chinese culture,this cannot conceal the shining points of his academic thinking.
