Study On Natural Aesthetic Differences Between Chinese And Western Paintings

Since Zong Bing put forward the concept of Mind Travel in Preface to Landscape Painting in the Southern Dynasty,this concept has become a category of painting theory,but with the pervasion of Mind Travel in poetry and painting,it has gradually evolved into a category of Chinese natural aesthetics and has become a popular natural aesthetic category in ancient China;Similarly,in the late 18th century,Picturesque was changed from a daily language to an aesthetic category by Gilpin,and then developed by Knight and Price to become a category of natural aesthetics in western aesthetics.Both Mind Travel and Picturesque emphasize the appreciation of nature through painting,which provides a platform for the comparison between Mind Travel and Picturesque.On this basis,this paper compares the differences between Mind Travel and Picturesque,mainly from the following aspects.The second chapter compares the types of paintings used,and concludes that the paintings used in Mind Travel are mostly freehand landscape literati paintings;However,the paintings used by Picturesque paintings are mostly realistic landscape paintings,and the different characteristics of the painting types used by them lead to the differences in aesthetic pursuit between them:the aesthetic purpose pursued by Mind Travel is to understand the Tao;The aesthetic purpose pursued by Picturesque is visual entertainment.The third chapter discusses the difference between the aesthetic pursuit of Mind Travel and Picturesque,which reflects the different attitudes towards nature between China and the West:in Mind Travel,the natural landscape "flatters Taoism with shape"and "realizes Zen with illusion",so the natural landscape is close to Taoism and Zen;However,landscape painting pursues both ends of Taoism and Zen behind natural landscapes by "writing shapes with shapes and looking with colors",so it is separated from Taoism and Zen by another layer.Therefore,Taoism and Zen are more important than nature,and nature is more important than painting;In the Picturesque view,landscape painting is the aesthetic standard of the picturesque mode,and things as aesthetic objects can only be regarded as Picturesque if they meet the standards of landscape painting.It can be seen that the ultimate pursuit is the formal beauty that brings visual pleasure to the viewer,while the landscape painting is between the formal beauty and the landscape.Only when the natural landscape is highly similar to the landscape painting can it bring aesthetic pleasure to the viewer.Therefore,formal beauty is more important than landscape painting,and landscape painting is more important than scenery.The fourth chapter starts from the body dimension,and finds out from the comparison that the Mind Travel focuses on experiencing nature in a non-physical way;While Picturesque emphasizes experiencing nature in a physical way.From the perspective of the space where the body is located,it is necessary for the sleeper to"stay in one room","draw a picture and be opposite",but swim in the mountains and rivers;While Picturesque tourism is to be immersed in nature,walk among mountains and rivers,and enjoy the scenery in front of you.From the point of view of physical condition,Mind Travel emphasizes that the appreciator should "clear his mind" and eliminate distractions and desires;While Picturesque is accompanied by tourists’intense curiosity and visual possessiveness.From the perspective of physical sensory participation,Mind Travel emphasizes understanding and understanding;Picturesque regards Claude mirror as an extension of eyes,and appreciates the formal beauty of nature with vision.Chapter five,from the point of view of the functions of recumbent tour and picturesque tour,Mind Travel requires the appreciator to be psychologically"clear-minded" and "sit and forget",so as to achieve the function of relaxing the mind and treating diseases.However,the literati and scholars who love the mountains and rivers are definitely not satisfied with the efficacy of recumbent tour in treating diseases,and they hope that they can get rid of the world by recumbent tour of mountains and rivers,so that their spirits can swim beyond the dust.Picturesque is picturesque.Through landscape painting,the purpose of "humanizing nature" is achieved,which provides theoretical support and psychological protection for travelers to March into nature aesthetically.At the same time,picturesque actually has a strong political function.Picturesque is the product of shaping national consciousness and embodies specific ideology.The root of the difference between Chinese and western natural aesthetics lies in that Chinese traditional agricultural society respects nature and pursues the unity of nature and man;However,in the West,nature is brought into the logical operation of industrial society,and nature is regarded as a visual resource,with anthropocentrism hidden behind it.
