Pre-Task Preparation Under The Guidance Of Schema Theory

Schema,the conceptual network,organizes,describes and explains people’s experience.In order to perform well during interpretation,interpreters are required to acquire new knowledge related to the specific field and make reasonable predictions.Adopting schema theory appropriately benefits an interpreter’s pertinent pre-task preparation.With abundant preparation and built schema,interpreters are able to do well in carrying out the consecutive interpretation.This report is based on the Jinan-Samoa assistance project about air conditioning installment and recycling in 2019.The School of Intelligent Manufacturing and Service,Shandong Institute of Commerce and Technology is the training site.In an industry requiring a certain specialized knowledge such as machinery or natural science,with the guidance of schema theory conducted on case studies,pre-task preparation can help interpreters make anticipation,reduce ambiguity and on-site mistakes,and simplify note-taking.The report is aimed at offering interpreters an alternative way to perfect their spot performance of consecutive interpreting(CI)through making adequate pre-task preparation.
