| Zhu Zongyuan(1875-1932),naming Zhenzhuang,Shanyin(now Shaoxing)people,Zhejiang Province,was a representative poet,bibliophile,calligrapher and painter in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China.He is quite ambitious man who participated in the founding of the Society for the Preservation of Chinese Studies as well as joined the Tongmeng Society and the Nanshe Revolutionary Society.His writings are quite abundant,being good at poems,essays,and words,especially poetry,which was praised by many celebrities at that time.Liang Hongzhi wrote in the preface of Zhu Zongyuan’s main collection of poems "Dazhige Poems":"Zhen Changzhi’s poems,which had lasted forty years,were not famous as any best-known people,but were close to Fan Kentang,and were referred to it by mouth by Chen Boyan,Zheng Taiyi,Yu Keshi,Huang Huiwen,Xia Jiancheng,and Li Ba."Zheng Yimei’s" Southern Society Conversation" stated he that "in Gongshi,among the Southern Society poets,Chong and Tan are far superior,and Huang Huiwen and Zhenzhuang should be regarded as giants." In the "Nan She Cong Xuan"compiled by Nan She She Cong Xuan by Hu Pu’an,15 poems of Zhu Zong Yuan were selected,and the number is in the middle level among the selected poets,which show the importance of the selected poets to the poems from another aspect.Zhu Zongyuan had a wide circle of friends,which contacts with his friends and the communication in literature in the past decades,witnessing that the traces of the development of academic literature in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China.At present,the academic circle is still a lack of attention,collation and research on Zhu Zongyuan’s literary work.Based on Zhu Zongyuan’s collection of poems "Dazhige Poems",this paper explores three aspects of Zhu Zongyuan’s life and friendship,poetry theme content and artistic characteristics,and makes eforts to have a more comprehensive grasp of Zhu Zongyuan and his poems.Examining lives and contacts of Zongyuan is the first problem to be solved in this article.Based on the collected related materials and literary work of Zhu Zongyuan,we examine his life including his staff’s career and social activities,and explore the background of his poetry creation.It focuses on those who have close contacts with Zhu Zongyuan and have a greater impact on their literary creation,life experience and living conditions,and analyzes the influence of their social activities on the content and artistic characteristics of Zhu Zongyuan’s poems through their communication.After combining with the life of Zhu Zongyuan,we carried out a careful reading and in-depth analysis of his poems.According to the ideological content of "Dazhige Poems",his poems were divided into four categories:condemnation and feeling poems,singing and rewarding poems,scenery and scenes,and painting poems,and the main content and personal emotions of various poems are analyzed.We next analyze the artistic achievements of Zhu Zongyuan’s poems from two aspects:artistic technique and style characteristics.In terms of artistic techniques,the blending of poetry and painting is a more prominent feature of his poetry creation,and the use of allusions is the main expression technique.Zhu Zongyuan comprehensively used these two methods to enhance the lyric and literary nature of his poems.At the same time,combined with artistic techniques,it explores the style characteristics of Zhu Zongyuan’s poems of worry,depression,pain and negativeness.Finally,there will be a compiled list of Zhuzong’s first year in the appendix,a list of works published in newspapers and his photographs,calligraphy and handwriting,etc.Zhu Zongyuan spent most of his life in various shogunates,especially in Ruizheng and Zhu Ruifu for many years.The research in this article can deeply explore the positive significance of his literary activities and literary writings to the field of ancient Chinese literature and poetry.It helps us to deeply understand the mentality and experience of literati in the late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China. |
