| Translation is not only a tool for language conversion, but also a bridge for people with different language backgrounds to understand each other. For a time, translation activities were simply regarded as the conversion of pure language, but the emergence and development of cultural schools made translation scholars realize that external factors also have a great impact on the completion of translation.Guided by manipulation theory, the thesis explores translation of the 13th Five-Year Plan from such external factors as patrons, ideology and poetics in order to provide a new perspective for the research of translation of the 13 th Five-Year Plan.Taking the translation process of the 13th Five-Year Plan as the research object, this thesis explores the external factors influencing the translation of the 13th Five-Year Plan under the guidance of the manipulation theory of Lefevere, one of the representatives of the cultural school.Manipulation theory broadens the field of view of translation research and makes translation researchers turn their attention from internal factors to external factors. There are three main levels in Lefevere’s manipulation theory, namely patron, ideology and poetics, which externally manipulate the translation process of the 13th Five-Year Plan from different perspectives. In the process of the translation of the 13th Five-Year Plan, the patrons play an important role in the quality control of the translation, mainly reflected in the composition of the patrons and the motivation of the patrons.Secondly, the ideology requires translators of the 13th Five-Year Plan not only to have high professional quality, but also to have a strong sense of national consciousness.Especially for the translation of major policies in the 13th Five-Year Plan, translators must focus on the national interests. In other words, translators should choose appropriate translation principles on the premise of correct ideology. In addition, the study holds that the manipulation of poetics in the translation process of the 13th Five-Year Plan is more likely to reduce the reading obstacles that target readers may encounter. |
