A Practice Report On Consecutive Interpreting With Transcript For The 16th CAEXPO Networking Program With Media

From September 15th to 25th,2019,twenty-two graduate volunteers from Guangxi Normal University went to Nanning to participate in the entertainment of foreign reporters at the 16 th China-ASEAN Expo.In order to collect media’s suggestions for improving various aspects of the CAEXPO,the China-ASEAN Secretariat organizes Networking Program with Media every year.The author acted as an interpreter at this conference.The report is mainly based on this conference,and analyzes the deficiencies of the author’s interpreting.This report mainly studies the following four parts,the first one is the introduction to the task,including the description,requirements and characteristics of the task;the second is the implementation of the task,including the author’s advance preparation,of which the author has prepared background information,difficult words and other preparations.This part also discusses the implementation process of the task and the feedback the author received.The third is case analysis,including analysis of the author’s problems in this task,the difficulties encountered during the interpreting process,and the application of interpreting strategies;the fourth is the conclusion section,which summarizes the lessons learned by the author from this interpreting practice.The author obtained some transcripts before the task.Therefore,sight interpreting techniques can be used in the interpreting process,which reduces the psychological burden.The author hopes that through the analysis of this interpreting practice,she could improve her own interpreting ability and provide reference for other interpreters.
