The material of this translation report is based on a research report called APG Typologies Report on Fraud & Money Laundering in the Pacific published by APG.It clarifies the criminal activities on fraud and money laundering and gives correspondent case analysis,which has practical significance for countries in detecting and investigating these criminal activities.Under the situation of economic globalization,the reporter expects that this report could enhance the risk consciousness and ability of risk aversion for countries,multinational enterprises and individuals.In this report,the translation material is totally up to 11,009 words.It mainly analyzes from the perspective of text typology,finding that there are abundant usages of descriptive languages in this legal text.According to Sarcevic’s classification of legal text,the translation material belongs to purely descriptive legal text.Based on its function of mainly providing information for readers,the linguistic characteristics of descriptive legal text on levels of graphology,lexis and syntax are summarized.With the guidance of Li Kexing’s three principles of legal translation,namely “accuracy and precision”,“consistency and identity”,“clarity and concision”,the reporter discusses the translation difficulties and problems at lexical and syntactic levels.At the lexical level,it includes terms of art and argots,common words with legal and economic meanings and legal pairs.At the syntactic level,it analyzes the translation of parallel structures,expanded simple sentences,complex long sentences and the passive voice.It explains how to carry out the cohesion and coherence of translation on levels of lexis and syntax under the guidance of Li Kexing’s three principles of legal translation.For cases description and reasoning,and explanations of legal concepts in legal text,translation strategies like foreignization and domestication,and corresponding methods of literal and liberal translation are adopted.The legal report and its translation were analyzed and summarized.On the one hand,the translator hopes to enrich the knowledge in financial crime for non-legal professionals.On the other hand,she also hopes to provide a reference for legal translation of purely descriptive texts.
