| The original text of this translation project is chapter two of the book Working with Domestic Violence: Contexts and Frameworks for Practice by Deborah Walsh. It is a textbook that equips students, social workers and practitioners in the field of human services with the knowledge and skills to address related issues effectively. The selected part discusses issues, risks and impact brought to several specific population groups. The translation project attempts to arouse public concern on female issues, calls on scholars and professionals in this regard to do more in-depth studies, thus reducing such events over time and improve the translator’s translation competence. As a highly professional book,it contains a lot of information such as opinions of academicians and findings from studies and its text type falls into an informative text. Therefore, guided by Reiss’ s text type theory and Newmark’s communicative translation, the translation pursues accuracy, completeness and logic by means of explicitation, semantic addition and so on.The report consists of five chapters.Chapter one is a general introduction to the background, significance and structure of the project.Chapter two introduces author and main content and analyses the source text.Chapter three elaborates theories of text type and communicative translation and specific translation methods in the process.Chapter four makes a deep analysis of difficulties and their corresponding solutions under the guidance of the theoretical framework.Chapter five concludes both the gains and limitations of the project. |
