In today’s rapid economic development, various industries have higher requirements for the comprehensive quality of language talents. In work, they are not only required to possess of a higher level of reading, writting, and translating, but also they need the ability of expressing, analyzing, and solving problems. Therefore,in response to the needs of the times,in recent years, the Ministry of Education has continuously reformed English education in order to cultivate new types of talents suitable for social development, and strives to find a more suitable learning environment for students.Although English education is constantly improved,it is still unavoidable. In the environment of exam-oriented education, teachers and students are only utilitarian in order to improve their performance and thus pass the middle or college entrance examinations. In such a learning environment, teachers still occupy a dominant position in the classroom, constantly input knowledge to students, without taking into account that students are the main body of the learning process, ignoring the individual differences of students and autonomously exploring and analyzing problems.Under this kind of education, students’ motivation for learning is insufficient.Studies have shown that there are two types of factors that influence learning motivation: internal factors and external factors. The internal factors are: learning attitude, learning strategy,self-confidence,and external factors:evaluation methods, teacher style, technology, classroom layout, and teaching materials. Therefore, the learning environment plays an important role in learning motivation among external factors. In the traditional second language acquisition theory,Michael H.Long’s interaction theory and the socio-cultural theory developed on the basis of Vygotsky’s theory began to focus on the relationship between the environment and the individual of language learning.Foreign scholars analyze the interaction between actors and the external environment from an ecological perspective, providing a new perspective for second language acquisition.Gibson puts forward the theory of affordance.Later, linguists led by Van Lier combined the theory of affordance with second language learning, and did empirical research on the affordance of learning environment, and strived to create an ideal ecological learning environment.Affordance lies in the interactive relationship between the actor and the environment. The core lies ininteraction. The English classroom under the theory of affordance is dynamic and changeable. Therefore,in such a resource-rich environment,it will increase the opportunities for students to communicate and express and stimulate students the enthusiasm of participating in the classroom,so that students can truly understand the charm and culture of English, and love English from the heart. Therefore, this article will verify what kind of classroom environment will improve students’ English learning motivation through action research, and which aspects will have an impact on students’ motivation. In action research, this article uses classroom observation scales, interviews, and motivation motometer to record students’ changes and classroom responses. After two rounds of action teaching, this paper analyzes it based on the data of the scales. When the teaching activities are rich and closely connected with the students’ knowledge background, and the students’ motivation is significantly improved. It has a great influence on students. In addition, the motivation of students is not developed steadily, but develops dynamically. The research in this article has a certain enlightening effect on English teaching.Teachers should constantly enrich the classroom environment and mobilize the enthusiasm of students,so that students can increase their motivation in the process of participating in activities.
