The relationship between language and gender in discourse is one of the most important topics in sociolinguistics.Language plays an important role in reflecting gender characteristics.Gender issues in discourse reflect people’s cognition and attitude towards gender.Since the 1960 s,with the rise of the Western Women’s Liberation Movement and the improvement of women’s social status, more and more attention has been paid to women. The issue of gender differences in language has attracted wide attention from linguistics, sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics, anthropology, history, philosophy and other disciplines.Discourse researchers have done a lot of research on female discourse from different perspectives and theories, and have made considerable achievements. But throughout the domestic research on female discourse, there are relatively few studies on gender differences in discourse under the background of cultural difference men and women grown up.Therefore, from the perspective of subculture approach to understand the female features of female discourse in television interview programs has certain reference value for the study of female discourse.Based on this, this study takes Fairclough’s three-dimensional framework as the theoretical framework, with the help of Halliday’s systemic functional linguistics, combined with the researches on female discourse features from the perspective of cultural difference approach, analyzes the features of the discourse of the two female writers interviewed in the telivision interview program “A Date with Luyu”.Specifically,at the text level, the author mainly analyzes the features of female discourse in terms of lexicalization, presupposition, modality and politeness;at the discursive practice level, the author mainly analyzes the features of female discourse in terms of intertextuality and topic;at the social practice level, the author mainly uses the sub-cultural differences approach to discuss the politeness and cooperative identity constructed by the features of female discourse. The study finds that at the text level, the features of female discourse presented in the corpus are mainly reflected in lexicalization. The use of the minimal response and the second person pronouns in lexicalization helps to shorten the psychological distance between the speaker and the hearer and the third party, reflecting that women pay great attention to listening to each other’s conversation content. The use of iterative in presupposition, modal words with low value, and hedges in politeness all express that women use various language strategies to express politeness in verbal communication to maintain a harmonious interpersonal relationship. At the discursive practice level, there are more topics in the selected corpus, which shows that the topic of women’s conversation is mainly about people, and most of them are important people in their lives, which reflect that women pay attention to the feelings between people.Through the discussion of social practice level,we can see that men and women grow up in different subculture background and belong to different subculture groups, thus forming different discourse styles. For women, conversation is a way to establish and maintain a harmonious relationship.Women construct cooperative and polite identity in their discourse, which constantly strengthens their verbal communication characteristics. The significance of this study has two main points: first, this study strengthens the application of cultural difference approach in television interview programs, especially in female discourse, and provides an effective example for the study of the features of female discourse.Secondly, this study has an impact on the majority of women engaged in social work.Through the understanding of the features of women’s discourse, women can deal with all kinds of communication problems more flexibly in conversation. |
