A Study On The Space-time Narration Of Animation Short Film

Animation short film is a kind of artistic expression form integrating literature,painting,art and photography.It has the characteristics of short time,content innovation and self expression.With the continuous development of animation in recent years,the content of animated short film is becoming more and more rich,and the expression method is constantly innovative.As the basic element of animation short film,time and space can transmit the information of animation short film to the audience with its intuitiveness and vividness,which can give the audience the most direct audio-visual impact and the most direct feeling.This characteristic of time and space is gradually valued by animation creators.At present,the simple space-time relationship of traditional animation is not enough to show the strong expressive power of animation.The complexity of narrative conception makes the animation space-time present a variety of changes.The importance of space-time in animation narrative is increasing day by day.In this paper,from the perspective of the spacetime narrative of animation short films,through the in-depth study of the space-time narrative of typical excellent animation short films at this stage,so as to analyze the laws of the space-time narrative of animation short films,and play a certain role in the space-time narrative of animation short films in China.In the research of this paper,the author mainly uses literature narratology,film narratology and other related theories,taking Pixar’s original animation short film as an example,to make an in-depth study on the characteristics,functions,future development trends of the space-time narrative of animation short film and Its Enlightenment on China’s space-time narrative of animation short film.First of all,the author clarifies the concepts related to this study,including animation short film and Pixar original animation short film related concepts and space-time narrative related concepts.Secondly,the space-time characteristics are explored.Through the study of the space-time narrative of animation short film,it is found that the characteristics of its narrative time are time distortion-the freedom,transformation and repetition of narrative time.The distortion of time is conducive to simplifying narrative and showing the artistic tension of animation short film.The characteristics of narrative space are as follows: the living of scene space is conducive to the audience’s increasing sense of substitution;the psychological of audio-visual space is conducive to the performance of the character’s heart and the dream space as the support of the character’s emotion.In terms of space-time structure,it tends to use linear space-time structure to ensure the integrity and smoothness of narrative.Thirdly,through the research,the author found that the spatiotemporal narrative of animation is not only a way of expression,but also a narrative technique to participate in the whole process of animation short narrative.In the narrative,it plays a driving role in promoting the development of the plot,displaying the expressive function of the characters and the metaphorical function containing the theme connotation.Finally,in the summary and analysis of animated short films,we can find out the trend of the complexity of spacetime inversion and the integration of multiple fictional narratives in the future.At the same time,in the contrast,we find that the space-time narrative of Chinese animation short film shows the characteristics of simplification and simplification.Therefore,the author puts forward some suggestions for the future development of China’s animation short film spacetime narrative from three aspects: enhancing innovation ability,enriching space-time expression forms,integrating national elements,displaying unique space-time style,skillfully using narrative space-time and expressing profound connotation.
