A Report On The Translation Of 2017 New York Laws ENV-Environmental Conservation(Excerpts Of Article1 & Article 27)

This translation report is based on the translation of the extract of Article 1 and Article 27 in 2017 New York Laws ENV-Environmental Conservation.The source text aims at protecting the environment from the aspects of collection,recycling to put forward how to deal with the waste.This report specifically focuses on the analysis of long sentences because there are a slew of long sentences in the source text.On the basis of such analysis,some techniques to translating long sentences have been proposed to an extent,that is,linear translation,reversion,addition and division.These have been exemplified in detail to display the process of long sentences’ translation and have explored the feasible techniques of translating long sentences in the legal English text.In addition,in order to present a better translation version faithful to the source text and comprehensible to readers,the pertinent law and regulation in China mainland and Hong Kong Special Administrative Region are referred to at the same time.It is hoped that such suggestions of translating long sentences may further provide some meaningful and constructive inspiration and enlightenment to the translation of legal English text.
