The college entrance examination of China is an important turning point in life for most students.High school is also a period of rapid psychological and physiological development for students.In this special period,learning occupies the vast part of students’ life.English records play an important role in the total score of the college entrance examination.Students expect to get better school records.In recent years,the state has paid more and more attention to the education of middle school students in ethnic minority areas.Due to the implementation of bilingual education and the continuous improvement of the education system,the research on the school records of middle school students in ethnic minorities of China is also increasing.However,the research on Mongolian students’ English learning motivation is insufficient.Therefore,in the context of the continuous promotion of bilingual education,from the perspective of the practical needs,this study investigates the current situation and factors influencing Mongolian middle-school students’ English learning motivation in Liaoning Province.The subjects of this study are the Grade three Mongolian students of Mongolian High School in Fuxin Mongolian Autonomous County,Liaoning Province.The research questions are as follows:(1)What is the general situation of the Mongolian high school students’ English learning motivation?(2)Are there any significant differences in English learning motivation between different genders?(3)Is there a correlation between English learning motivation and English school records? In this study,qualitative and quantitative research methods are applied,and SPSS 20.0 is used to analyze the collected data.The analysis methods mainly include the descriptive analysis and the independent sample t-test.Through the numerical analysis and comparison of the mean and standard deviation of each dimension of the questionnaires,this paper explores the Mongolian students’ English learning motivation.The study shows that Mongolian high school students’ English learning motivation is at the medium level as a whole,but the internal motivation is relatively high.Among the five dimensions of learning motivation,the internal interest dimension is affected by gender,and the difference is very significant.Girls are significantly higher than boys in this aspect.There is a significant positive correlation between the English learning motivation of the Mongolian high school students of grade three and their English school records.The higher motivation,the better English school records.
