Hannah Arendt,one of the most influential political philosophers,revealed the essence and specific characteristics of the crisis of modernity and the root causes of its generation with the reflection and criticism of modernity from her unique female perspective.Arendt criticized modernity from the analysis of human conditions and pointed out that human conditions have dissimilated under the condition of modernity,which caused the crisis of modernity.She tried to overcome this crisis encountered by modernity through humans’ active life and reconstruction of public realm,which greatly influenced many masters such as Habermas.The first chapter explored the starting point of Arendt’s Theory of Modernity.Through analyzing human conditions and three activities of humans,Arendt pointed out that actions are the highest form of active life,and the humans’ active actions are the most effective methods to revolt the crisis of modernity in the public realm.The second chapter discusses the changes in human conditions under the condition of modernity,reflection on the crisis of modernity and its roots of science and philosophy.The third chapter is about Arendt attempted reflection on getting rid of the crisis of modernity with the core idea of active life and reconstruction of public realm.In the fourth chapter,the author thinks about Arendt’s Theory of Modernity and its practical significance. |
