In the 1970 s,the relation between man and nature which is along with the rapid development of economic and social contradictions was increasing prominently.Peoples put themselves into the failure of scientific and technological civilization, and the problems of nature and sustainable development became the concerns of academia and the research fields, also caused humans to reflects the value and the ethical relationship between human and nature. They had to rethink about whether there are problems of relationship among principles of ecology and ideas, which led to the misunderstanding and need to be correct.Murdy W.H.,one of contemporary ecologists, criticized the inherited traditional anthropocentrism, from the perspective of modern anthropocentrism. He believes that the value and future of human beings could be guaranteed and continued, when human being takes the position of anthropocentrism and the origin from human interests.Compared with Murdy’s theories,Holmes Rolston broke through the traditional concept of anthropocentrism and emphasized the intrinsic value of nature and the ecological holism that regards human beings as part of the ecosystem.Rolston, who derived morality from the value dimension and combined natural philosophy with moral philosophy and give the dialectical analysis of the positive and negative effects of theory to give the development of practice better guide,is praised as the“father of environmental ethics”.This paper makes a comparative analysis of the modern anthropocentrism represented proposed by Murdy and the wilderness philosophy represented by Rolston.Starting from the progressive significance and limitations of their respective theories,it provides a comparative analysis of the two theories and obtains inspiration from them, with the wish to provide theoretical basis for supporting the practice of modern ecological civilization. This article mainly uses the method of comparative study to analyze the values of Murdy’s and Rolston’s theories of,including research respectives, contents and significances. On the comparative study,it is found that the so-calledMurdy’s modern anthropocentrism and the Rolston’s wilderness philosophy had been all gone to the extremes in the development, although both of them devoted to the performances of ecological theory and practice,,based on their values respectively. This paper focuses on the theoretical correspondence, differences and possible integration of the two ones. |
