With the development of economic globalization,English,as an international language,becomes more and more important.In 2001,the Ministry of Education required English to be taught as a compulsory course from the third grade.At present,more and more primary school students attend English outside-school tutoring.Self-efficacy refers to an individual’s subjective judgment on whether he or she can succeed in doing something,which affects the individual’s behavior.Positive self-efficacy can stimulate the interest of primary school students in English learning to a greater extent.In the existing literature,the research on self-efficacy mainly focuses on its relationship with learning motivation and academic performance,while the research on the relationship between outside-school tutoring and self-efficacy is rarely involved.The author believes that it is necessary to explore the relationship between outside-school tutoring and self-efficacy.Through English learning self-efficacy questionnaire and interviews,430 senior school students of Sichuan Guanghan L primary school were surveyed.Using SPSS for data analysis.The descriptive statistical analysis is used to analyze self-efficacy of all students、self-efficacy of students who participated in outside-school tutoring and who did not.The independent-samples T test is used to analyze the differences of self-efficacy between the students who participated and those who did not.Multiple regression analysis is used to analyze the relationship between outside-school tutoring and self-efficacy.Finally,draws the following conclusions:Firstly,the overall self-efficacy of grade 5 and grade 6 students in L primary school is above the average level,and the students with high self-efficacy are significantly more than those with low self-efficacy,and they are relatively stable with little overall difference.Secondly,students who participate in outside-school tutoring have a higher self-efficacy in English learning than those who do not.Thirdly,there is a significant positive correlation between participation in English tutoring and self-efficacy in English learning.The length of participation in English outside-school tutoring is significantly positive correlated with the self-efficacy of English learning,the students who have attended the tutoring about 2-4 years have a high sense of self-efficacy in English learning.Through this study of the relationship between outside-school tutoring and self-efficacy,this study is a guide to improve students’ self-efficacy in English learning,It slso provide a rational treatment of outside-school tutoring,and it also serve as a supplement to the research on outside-school tutoring and English self-efficacy.
