A Study Of The Jade Found In Zuozhuan In The Context Of The History Of Chinese Civilization

Spring and Autumn period is the peak period of using jade in ancient China,and also the turning period of using jade.With the increasingly fierce social change,the function of jade has changed greatly.In the era of the collapse of rites and music,the use of jade is getting rid of the shackles of patriarchal rites and began to turn to secular and humanistic functions.At the same time,the use of jade by nobles is becoming more and more common.This series of changes caused the Confucian scholars to think about jade culture,and linked jade morality with the way of gentlemen.This paper takes the jade articles in Zuozhuan as the object of study to see through the development of jade culture in the spring and Autumn period.It is divided into the following parts:The introduction part mainly introduces the background and significance of the topic,research status and literature review,research methods and innovations.The first part introduces the types of jade in Zuozhuan.According to jade texture,specific shape,specific function and measurement unit,it can be divided into five categories.The second part investigates the function of the jade in Zuozhuan.The function of jade in Zuozhuan covers a wide range.The ritual jade is still the bulk of spring and autumn jade,which is widely used in the book of emperor’s life,noble sacrifice and funeral,and imperial engagement.In addition,the space occupied by secular and humanistic functions should not be underestimated.The third part discusses the use of jade in Zuozhuan and the transformation of Chinese civilization.In the context of the collapse of rites and music,Confucianism injected new connotations into jade culture.Confucius believed that the reason for the world’s unrighteousness lies in the loss of Zhou Li spirit,so he placed the hope of reviving Zhou Li on the gentleman.Confucianists compare jade with virtue,and closely link jade virtue with gentleman.And will wear jade as an important part of the gentleman’s cultivation,make various requirements for it.The last part is the conclusion,which introduces the conclusion of this paper.
