| As the research object of this article, jade of Xinglongwa culture can be dividedto two types——Chahai and Baiyinchanghan. Xinglongwa culture,which belongs tothe culture of northern China in the Middle Neolithic,is famous for jadetradition.Generally,this culture has three types,including Chahai type,mainlydistributed in the Daling River basin-wide;Baiyinchanghan type,mainly in theXilamulun River,Dongzhai type, mainly in the of Luan River basin-wide.Xinglongwa culture represented the prehistoric culture happened the north of Yanshanand the western of Liaoning province.As the crossing of agriculture in Central milletand fishing or hunting culture in Northeast, Xinglongwa culture made this area tobecome intersectional as a major ancient China civilization. Jade tradition ofXinglongwa culture occurred earlier in northern China rooted in this important socialand cultural reason.Type of Baiyinchanghan jade, were all found in the stone tombbuilt on top of the hill,which is very intriguing that the difference came from thetype of Baiyinchanghan and the type of Chahai.Jade of Xinglongwa culture have threemajor categories, first is tools shape,such as ax,adze,chisels and others; Second isdecorative shape,such as ornaments, dagger, tubes and so on.The third is jadestatues,such as a variety of the human face shape, animal-shaped and so on.Allkinds of tools shaped jade found in Xinglongwa cultural relics are quite different fromother stone and similar tools,which was given some kind of religious spirit as ritualutensils.At the same time,the function of all kinds of human and animal-shapedjade should also be associated with a particular religious ritual activities. |
