Biography is a common literary genre which mainly records the life stories of the characters, and selectively describes and explains them according to various written and oral recollections.Based on the surrender of British general Cornwallis at the end of the American War of independence, the novel,a Little Girl in Pittsburgh mainly introduces the life of the old Pittsburgh people after the victory of the American War of independence. This report is on the E-C translation of the first three chapters. The first chapter of the original text is a simple introduction. The second chapter mainly introduces the ending of the war.The description of war is mainly based on the dialogue between the main characters in the original text. The third chapter is based on the death of her father. In the process of translation,Skopos Theory is widely used, which includes skopos rule, coherence rule and fidelity rule. The understanding of Skopos Theory and biography genre is deepened through this translation practice.Through this practice, the translator hopes to provide some valuable suggestions for other translators engaged in biography translation as well as integrate the Skopos Theory and the three principles of translation methods with biography translation,so as to more accurately convey the linguistic features, cultural connotations and communicative intentions contained in the works.
