| Flipped classroom theories have transformed traditional textbooks into a variety of micro-video formats with the development of modern educational technology,which makes micro-videos possible in English instruction.Product-Oriented Approach(POA)is a teaching theory with Chinese characteristics constructed by Professor Wen Qiufang.It aims to solve the current situation of “separation of learning and using” in Chinese foreign language teaching.Based on the combination of production-oriented approach theory and flipped classroom teaching model,this research constructs a three-step method,i.e.“motivating-enabling-assessing” for English listening and speaking flipped classroom teaching model in senior high school.The method can be applied to English listening and speaking classes of high school and the researcher tests whether this teaching model can promote the level of oral English teaching in high school.This research mainly studies two questions:(1)What are the effects of POA-based flipped classroom teaching model on senior high school students’ oral English proficiency?(2)What is the senior high school students’ attitude towards the flipped classroom teaching model based on POA? The subjects of this research are all the students in Class 5,Grade 1 in No.1 Middle School of Zhengzhou.This research used this teaching model for 16 weeks of teaching practice.This empirical research has utilized a combination of qualitative and quantitative method;quantitative research refers to pre-test,post-test and questionnaire and qualitative research refers to interview.SPSS version 17 was used to analyze the oral scores of pre-test and post-test.In the qualitative research,six students were randomly selected for semi-structured interview after the experiment.The major findings of the study are as follows:(1)The oral English scores of students in the experimental class were significantly improved compared with the pre-test scores in terms of pronunciation,grammar,content structure and fluency.(2)Teachers used the “motivating-enablingassessing” three-step teaching model,and students hold a positive attitude towards it.The results mainly showed that rich input materials can increase students’ learning interests;some topics can improve students’ active participation,and the combination of learning and assessment can improve the efficiency of the oral classroom,which can be achieved through teacher-student collaborative assessment.Finally,students’ initiative and creativity in oral learning were stimulated.This teaching model can improve the overall level of students’ oral English,indicating that POA-based flipped classroom teaching model can be applied to oral English teaching in senior high school. |
