| In the Ming dynasty(1368A.D.—1644A.D.),the basic education career in?jiangnan(the south region of the Yangtze River)was booming and made many great achievements.In the eighth year of hongwu period,Zhu Yuanzhang(the first emperor of the Ming dynasty)firstly commanded to establish community schools.Still till the late Ming Dynasty,these schools remain existed which implied the career was gradually being developed.In the early Ming dynasty,community schools,as educational institutions of the central government,were set up at the local areas in order to cultivate people living there.With the change of regimes in the Ming Dynasty,the authority gradually delegated the power to set up schools initiatively to every level in the society.In the middle of Ming,the school has turned into a public-private local organization on education,a place for the local elites to do Neo-Confucianism practices.In the late Ming Dynasty,the school was developed to an independent local comprehensive organization,and local folk were allowed for the establishment.This trend was particularly profound in jiangnan region.At that time,local forces such as folk religion,gentry class and township organizations were much developed,and nation-local connection was better structured that made these social forces-the bureaucratic,gentry,and civilian groups participate in community schools under developing one after another.Similarly,those schools in jiangnan region were at the center of the state-society dual structure,playing a role of soft controlling to carry out cultural and religious careers,Confucian Humanization and safeguard social orders.Therefore,it’s significant to establish community schools in jiangnan region.This paper investigates the six mansions as a foundation of su,song,chang,hang,jia,and hu,the economic and cultural centers of jiangnan region in the Ming dynasty.The main references of this article are The Ming History,The Memoir of Ming Dynasty and The Code of Great Ming Dynasty and other historical materials and jiangnan’s choreography,inscriptions and collected works of celebrities from the Ming dynasty gave a lot of supports as well.This article mainly analysts the connections between jiangnan’s community schools and local society and discuss how these schools established and worked under the impact of regional society.To ensure overall features of schools are well unfolded and seek for the effects they had on controlling,managing and safeguarding to basic society in jiangnan region of the Ming dynasty. |
