| Language speaking anxiety is common in the English classroom learning process,and it is a key but often overlooked variable that affects the development of students’ English learning and oral ability.Senior one students are a special group that has crossed the junior high school stage and entered a new milestone in the senior high school learning career.Facing new learning materials,teaching methods and learning environments,if they cannot adjust and adapt as soon as possible,their learning and expression of spoken English will be easily affected by excessive anxiety.In view of this,this study takes some senior one students in a senior high school in Yinchuan City as the research object,through questionnaire surveys,focus group discussions and interviews,to understand the basic situation of anxiety in oral English in high school students,and explore the differences of senior one students’ language speaking anxiety in different variables such as gender,personality,birth place,and oral satisfaction(spoken satisfaction refers to the degree of satisfaction of students with their own oral level),and analyzes the main causes of senior one students’ oral anxiety in the English classroom.The results of the study shows that:(1)The English speaking anxiety of senior one students in English classrooms is widespread,and the vast majority of students are at an intermediate level of anxiety in oral English;There is no significant gender difference in oral English anxiety in English classes of senior one students,but have striking differences in students’ character,birthplace and their satisfaction of spoken language.(2)The reasons for the anxiety of oral English in high school students can be classified into three aspects: classroom factors,teachers’ factors and students’ factors.Among them,classroom factors mainly include classroom learning activities and learning environment;teachers’ factors mainly include teaching methods,evaluation methods,sternness,etc.;students’ factors mainly include students’ English learning attitude,English proficiency and communicative confidence,and worry about negative evaluation.According to the analysis of conclusion,combined with the literatureinvestigation and theoretical foundations,the author puts forward some strategies for alleviating the oral anxiety of senior one students in the English classroom from the perspective of classroom,teacher and students. |
