With the popularization of science and technology and the popularization of the Internet,multimedia-assisted technology has been gradually applied to the classroom of primary and secondary schools,and the combination of multimedia technology and English teaching has made rapid development in English education.Although the use of multimedia-assisted teaching in rural schools started later than in urban schools,it has now been widely popularized.From the beginning of multimedia-assisted teaching,experts and scholars have carried out a lot of research on the application of multimedia technology in English classroom,and have obtained a lot of achievements.However,by looking up the relevant literature,it is found that the current situation of multimedia-assisted English teaching in rural high schools is less investigated.Therefore,the author uses the opportunity of practice in rural high schools to carry out this investigation,hoping to get some basic information about the situation in rural areas and seek for suitable measures in English teaching in rural areas.The investigation focuses on a rural high school in Qinhuangdao,Hebei Province.Based on constructivist theory and language input theory,280 students and 24 English teachers in three grades of Shuangshanzi High School have been selected in the form of questionnaire survey and interview survey,and investigates the configuration of multimedia equipment in rural high school,English teachers’ operation level for using the multimedia,the attitude of teachers and students for multimedia-assisted English teaching in rural high school and the influence of multimedia-assisted English teaching on students’ learning and teachers’ teaching effect.According to investigation,the situation is that the multimedia equipment in rural schools is not perfect enough,and there are problems in quality,lack of regular inspection and maintenance;teachers’ technical level of using multimedia technology to assist English teaching is not high,and they are not quite familiar with relevant theories.At the same time,it is clear that the quality of courseware is not high,the teacher’s preparation time is too long,the communication between teachers and leads to the problems of low English level and low interest in English learning.In order to give full play to the positive role of multimedia-assisted technology in English teaching,make up for the shortcomings of traditional teaching methods,optimize the teaching and learning mode between teachers and students,and then achieve better English teaching results,this paper puts forward some feasible suggestions for multimedia-assisted English teaching: The government and schools should realize the inevitability and unique advantages of the popularization and application of multimedia-assisted teaching,improve the quality of school multimedia facilities,and intensify the development of multimedia technology.Teachers should attach importance to the unique advantages of multimedia-assisted English teaching,master the ability to use multimedia technology,and play its positive role in English teaching.Students should adapt to multimedia-assisted teaching under the guidance of teachers,and develop their interest and enthusiasm in learning English with the help of multimedia technology,so as to improve their comprehensive ability of using English.
