| As a believer of Christian-socialism,Kinoshitanaoe donates his whole life to against Japanese imperialism and never stops to yearn for a peaceful future.Besides,as a people who had two distinctive identity-socialist and Christian,Kinoshitanaoe ’s pacifism contains both the rational aspect of science and the irrational aspect of religion.On the one hand,this feature could reconcile the contradiction between materialism and religious belief,on the other hand,because he could not accept violent revolution method,so Kinoshitanaoe denied the Christian-socialism which he always believed and breaks away from politic activities eventually.Therefore,this paper will separate into 5 parts to demonstrate the changing and features of Kinoshitanaoe’s violence value before he quitted socialism activities,and also would attempt to show how does those violence values affect Kinoshitanaoe’s socialism thoughts.In the first chapter,this paper will introduce useful background information,for example,the general social problem when Kinoshitanaoe born,personal growth before he went to college and educational experience,to help understand the relationship between society and socialism at that time,his idea of revolution and civilization when he was young,and his talent of understand Christian doctrine.The second chapter will show how does Kinoshitanaoe change his stand,from a staunch supporter of capitalism to a faithful Christian believer who believes the power of love could save Japan.The present author believes this transformation reflects Kinoshitanaoe’s anti-war and nonviolent revolution theory is in an embryo.And also introduces a super-rationality God’s love,a universal revolution idea,a positive hope about future based on social Darwinism,and all of those features are seen as the root of Kinoshitanaoe’s nonviolence value.The following part aims to introduce Kinoshitanaoe’s personal experience after he leaves hometown,works in Tokyo as a journalist and becomes a socialist during this period.The author believes Kinoshitanaoe integrates Christian love spirit smoothly into socialism mind,and use this new idea as a guideline to seek for a politic revolution to achieve world peace.The fourth part shows Kinoshitanaoe participate in Heiminsha(a mass organization contains anti-war and socialism spirit)to against Russo-Japanese War during 1903-1905.This essay proposes although his anti-war mind completely showed to the public at this time,he also showed a strong attitude of rejecting existing social order and politic system,want to use people’s soul,morality and belief to break the status quo to achieve world(the final)peace.The final part illustrates Kinoshitanaoe’s period experience,from issue the new era magazine to abandon it,and quits all socialism activities,politic events eventually.Furthermore,this part will highlight Kinoshitanaoe’s struggling between the ideal of a peaceful revolution and the reality of a violent revolution when violent moments are getting more,and emphasis the violence values play a significant role in the death of Christian-socialism.In the end,the author will demonstrate the change of Kinoshitanaoe’s violence values by depicting he breaks away from the socialist movement and return to the idea of God ’s love.In conclusion,Kinoshitanaoe’s thoughts show his fierce and complete resistance to Meiji Japan,insists to seek a nation which full of peace and love,rather than an imperialism nation full of war and suppression.However,his determined thought of love restricts his revolution method,and eventually forced him to abandon a more realistic violent revolution method,escape into the spiritual world,and repeatedly advocating spiritual practice such as meditation to find personal inner peace. |
