| Chinese characters recognition has always been a hot area of research in the field of linguistic psychology. In terms of Chinese characters recognition, such questions have always been the focus of divergence in previous studies, including how does the individual access the semantic information from characters,Such questions have always been the focus of divergence in previous studies, including what is the phonological function, how about the time course of graphic, phonological and semantic activation,as well as the priority of phonological and semantic activation. Can researches on the time course of graphic, phonological and semantic activation in Chinese characters recognition against different native language backgrounds reveal the mechanism of Chinese characters information processing,or present new ideas and evidence for the study of the generosity and particularity of cross-language Chinese characters information processing is also the focus of discussion in the paper.Based on previous researches, the study, through reviewing and analyzing the status quo of existing relevant researches on Chinese characters recognition, improves the experimental depn. The study adopts Stroop paradigm and priming paradigm(priming-category judgement tasks based on graphic, phonological and semantic information)to observe the time course of graphic, phonological and semantic activation in Chinese characters recognition for Tibetan college students under different paradigms, different stimulus presentation time, and different experimental tasks,in hope of offering practical research for the second language teaching so as to provide guidance for Chinese teaching and Chinese learning of Tibetan college students. To sum up the results of the above experiments,we obtained the following conclusions:1.Generally,the graphic, phonological and semantic activation process of Tibetan college students is in accordance with the general rule of previous studies, namely, the graphic activation comes first, and the phonological and semantic activation comes later.Under the Stroop paradigm, the main path of Tibetan college students’ Chinese characters recognition is from graphics to semantics, and the role of phonetics is limited, which conforms to the Direct-access Hypothesis. While, under the priming paradigm, the graphic, phonological and semantic activation process in Tibetan college students’ Chinese characters recognition has its particularity and is a dynamic continuous process.2.Under the Stroop paradigm, the experimental tasks are the same, and the graphic, phonological and semantic activation order in Tibetan College Students’ Chinese character recognition is also the same.Specifically,in Experiment 1 and Experiment 2,the path of Tibetan College Students’ Chinese character recognition is from graphics to semantics;under the priming paradigm, the experimental tasks are different, and the graphic, phonological and semantic activation order in Tibetan College Students’ Chinese character recognition is also different. It may be affected by such factors as the difficulty of the experimental task, the native language background of Tibetan college students, and the errors in writing Chinese characters of Tibetan college students,in Experiment 3,for graphic task, the response time is the longest, and the accuracy the lowest;for semantic tasks, the response time is the shortest, and the accuracy the highest. |
