Separable words are special kind of words in Chinese.Because of the complex and diverse forms of segregation and the inability to follow regular rules, foreign students often make mistakes in the process of their use.Learners with different mother tongue backgrounds have different bias characteristics in the use of separable words. Therefore, studying the biases of the use of separable words by learners from different countries has a positive significance for the nationalization teaching of separable words. The introduction part of the article introduces the background, research content and significance, research methods, theoretical basis, and literature review of the article. The literature review is divided into a research review on the ontology of separable words and a research review on the teaching of separable words in foreign languages. The body of this paper is divided into four chapters. The first chapter is a survey of the use of separable words in Sri Lankan intermediate and advanced students. This chapter includes the purpose and objects of the questionnaire survey, questionnaire distribution and recycling, and analysis of the survey results.A rank sum test of the results of the questionnaire found that Chinese proficiency and segregation forms are important factors influencing the deviation rate of separable words for international students of Sri Lankan intermediate and advanced Chinese level.Combined with the questionnaire survey and corpus analysis,it was found that the deviation characteristics of the separable words of Sri Lankan intermediate and advanced Chinese proficiency students place "dynamic auxiliary words","complements" and "pronouns" after the separable verbs and put "adjectives and adjective phrases" and "quantity structure" before or after the separable words and it’s more often placed before the separable words.Chapter 2 analyzes the causes of errors. In this chapter, based on the analysis and summary of the characteristics of the errors in the use of separable words byinternational students of Sri Lankan intermediate and advanced Chinese level, the relevant theories of second language acquisition are used to analyze the causes of the errors. The analysis shows that due to the negative transfer of the mother tongue, the generalization of the target language rules, the complexity of the separable words, the presentation of collocation words in the textbook, and the influence of learning strategies,Sri Lankan students will use the separable word and the isolation form in the entire separable word, before or after.Chapter three, teaching suggestions. This chapter provides corresponding teaching suggestions from three aspects: teachers, teaching materials and students. For the negative transfer of the mother tongue, teachers should strengthen the contrast between the segregated forms of separable words and the corresponding expressions in Sinhala to determine the difficulty of teaching. In response to the generalization of the target language rules, teachers should help students clarify the difference between common verbs and separable words to avoid students generalizing the usage of common verbs into collocation words;teachers should adopt a variety of teaching methods for the difficulties of separable words for teaching, students should adopt an active learning strategy;for the problem of the presentation of separable words in textbooks, the writer can reflect the nature of the separable words in the vocabulary, appropriately increase the presentation of the separable words and design related exercises.Chapter 4,conclusion.Summarize the paper and point out the shortcomings of the study.
