US Military Assistance To The Philippines In The Early Post-World War Ⅱ Period(1946-1953)

On July 4,1946,the Philippines emerged from the status of a colony and officially became a sovereign independent state.The newly independent Philippines signed a series of economic and military agreements with the United States,continuing the economic and military relationship with the United States.In the military assistance agreement signed by the United States and the Philippines on March 21,1947,the United States was required to provide military assistance funds to the Philippine government,transfer surplus wartime materials,establish military advisory missions to supervise assistance and guide military training,and establish and develop the Philippine military and National defense,safeguarding the security and social order of the Philippine government.Military assistance provided guarantees for the United States to fulfill its security commitments to the Philippines,develop the military strength of the Philippines,and safeguard the Philippine society,while strengthening military ties between the two countries.However,the Philippine government and social development are not as expected by the United States.The rapid development of the Huk Rebellion has caused the Philippine government to be seized.In June 1950,the Korean War broke out.The United States to prevent the development of communism in Southeast Asia,prevent the Philippines from becoming another China,and ensure the role of the Philippines as a chain of the Pacific island.The United States provides military personnel by increasing the number of military weapons.Military guidance and other means have strengthened military assistance to the Philippines and military cooperation with the Philippines.With the help of the United States,the Philippine army accelerated the suppression of the Huk Rebellion.In fact,it became an accomplice to the need to maintain a corrupt government and suppress the communist movement in accordance with the needs of the United States,and laid the foundation for the formation of the US-Philippine alliance.
