| This article attempts to show the secularization tendency of the fool image in Bruegel`s works from the perspective of a painting practitioner by discussing the relationship between Bruegel and the secular life of Netherlands,rhetoric drama and the texts of humanists.The first part will briefly introduce several groups of friends with whom he has contacts;The second part will mainly discuss the influence of Bosch`s humorous style on Bruegel`s paintings under the cooperative relationship with Cock`s Four Wind Press in the context of the commercial environment of Antwerp in the16th century;The third part will discuss the dramatic scenes and fool images in the works of Bruegel age`s artists,and explain the secularization tendency contained in Bruegel`s works by comparing the works of Bruegel and contemporary Italian style artist Floris;The fourth part will combine the research of Sullivan and Gibson to discuss the influence of fool`s secular meanings on Bruegel`s painting and its winder social recognition,and to show the image of fool in his works.I hope that through these arrangement and discussion,I can well demonstrate a coordinate system about fools around Bruegel the Elder and his special position of fools`image in Bruegel`s works in this coordinate system. |
