| Senior high school English writing test occupies a very important position in the evaluation system of college entrance examination.With the deepening of the new curriculum reform,English teachers in senior high school are increasingly aware of the importance of English writing.Although some domestic scholars have done some research on English writing,the current situation of English writing teaching is still not optimistic.Many teachers have been using the traditional teaching method of Combining Grammar and vocabulary and do not attach enough importance to English writing in English teaching.In addition,from the perspective of students,students also don’t put much emphasis on English writing and lack the ability of expressing written language sufficiently.Therefore,It has become an urgent problem for many teachers about how to improve students’ English writing level quickly and effectively.The lexical chunk teaching method based on X-mind environment provides a feasible way to solve this problem.Therefore,it is particularly important to explore the application of lexical chunk teaching method based on X-mind environment in senior high school English writing teaching.Based on the lexical chunk approach proposed by Michael Lewis(1977)and related theoretical research,this study combines the lexical chunk approach theory with X-mind mind mapping to explore a new approach in English writing teaching.At the same time,the purpose of this study is to explore the following issues: firstly,whether the lexical chunk-based approach is feasible in senior high school English writing teaching under the X-mind environment,secondly,whether the chunk-based approach under the X-mind environment can improve students’ interest and confidence in English writing,and finally,whether the chunk-based approach under the X-mind environment can improve the number of chunks used in students’ compositions.In the third grade of Nangong Middle School in Xingtai City,Hebei Province,the author chose two parallel classes Class 1 and Class 2 as the research objects,and sets Class 1 as the experimental group and Class 2 as the control group.This experimental study has been carried out for a semester.The numbers of lexical chunks and the average writing grades in classes using the lexical chunk teaching method based on X-mind environment and those not using the lexical chunk teaching method based on X-mind environment have been discussed.The results show that the averagescores of the pretest and post-test in the control group are 15.31 and 15.51 respectively with little change,while the average score in the experimental group increases from 15.36 to 19.00;the number of pretest and post-test lexical chunks in the control group is 478 and 492 respectively,but the number of lexical chunks in the experimental group increases from 454 to 763;The correct number of lexical chunks used in the pretest and post-test is 443 and 451 respectively,while the correct number of lexical chunks used in the experimental group has increased from 416 to 673.These data show that the lexical chunk teaching method based on X-mind environment can improve the confidence and interest of the third grade students in English writing,and also enhance their awareness of lexical chunk and English writing level. |
