Business contracts translator plays an indispensable part in the business activity,exerting far-reaching impact on business cooperation.The translation practice report bases on English-Chinese translation of the business contract signed by Independence Plaza Tower Co.,Ltd.and P & T Group International Consultants Limited.From June,2016 to October,2018,the author worked as an intern at Jinan Jinbang translation company mainly responsible for translating business contracts.As stipulated in the Scopos Theory,the translated work shall observe the three rules,namely skopos rule,coherence rule and fidelity rule.According to the rules of Skopos Theory,the translated work shall be in conformity with the original work,implying that the translation process shall obey the fidelity rule.Besides,the translated work shall conform with the target language to ensure the coherence of the translation.Given the purpose of the translation task,that is to guarantee the communicative result,the translation shall keep with the purpose of the activity,denoting that the translator shall obey skopos rule.To give an exhaustive account of the specific condition in the contract,so many synonyms are applied in business contract.The author adopts two different translation approaches—literal translation and liberal translation—to translate the synonyms to express the specific meaning of the synonyms.As for the legal vocabulary and terms,the author uses the existing translation to guarantee the authentic and professional nature of the translated work.Translation conversion,amplification,omission and other translation methods are used in translating the long and complicated sentences to ensure the fluency of the translated work.Discourse translation demands coherence and connectivity,to maintain the two characteristics of the contract and satisfy the expectation of the reader,the author observes fidelity and the coherence rule of Skopos Theory.The translation practice report is divided into four chapters.The first chapter is the description of the translation task,mainly including the translation practice background,characteristics of the translated text,requirements of the translated task and significance of the translated work.The second chapter is the description of the translation process,mainly including the translation theory,preparations before the translation,the translation process and summary after the translation.The third chapter is the analysis of the specific translation cases in which the author analyzes how Skopos Theory guides the translation from the perspective of lexicon,sentences and discourse.The fourth chapter is the summary of the translation practice in which the author summarizes the experience in the process of the translation for translators’ reference.
