This thesis analyzes the influence of reader's expectation on translation methods by a case study on English-Chinese translation of 365 Series.Targeting children from six to twelve years old,the series collects aphorism, poems and famous quotations on various themes such as friendship and love.In translating text of this type, translators must make sure that the translated version can be attractive to as much target readers as possible. The solution to this is to take reader's expectation into full consideration so as to raise interest of target group.Translation methods for 365 project can be classified into two categories: one is adding figure of speech and rhyme into translation, the other is the appropriate use of transcreation.Through cases analysis, this thesis hopes to provide some useful reference for E-C translation of similar texts.
